Who is Bob the green turtle? Why Bob is here?
Everyone who has visited the Two Oceans Aquarium knows Bob, an endangered green sea turtle resident in our I&J Ocean Exhibit. Bob has been such a long-term feature of the Aquarium, that we sometimes forget that he's actually a rehabilitation patient, with the intention of one day being healthy enough to complete his path to release back into the wild.
Tracking Bob: Loopy ocean rollercoasters!
Bob, the green turtle, has been doing loops in the Atlantic Ocean - showing off his super chilled nature as he floats with the currents. Let's hear more from Talitha Noble, Conservation Manager at the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation.
Tracking Turtles: Bob's final update!
In the early hours of the morning on 3 October, we came to the end of a chapter as our beloved green turtle Bob’s satellite tag stopped transmitting. As all satellite tags eventually do, Bob’s tag must have fallen off her shell as she was swimming. Luckily, this is not the end of her story…
Talitha Noble, Conservation Manager at the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation’s Turtle Conservation Centre, tells us more.
Bob the turtle's rollercoaster rehabilitation
On 6 November 2014, an injured young green turtle was found on a beach in the De Hoop Nature Reserve, about four hours drive from Cape Town, and the race was on to save its life.

We're sure you're just as excited to see what Bob gets up to as we are, and thanks to the support of Karoline Hanks, who ran the 13 Peaks (twice) to raise funds for a satellite tracker tag for Bob - we all get to follow his adventure!

Amy Davis is a third-year photography student at City Varsity. Late last year, she entered a photography competition hosted by the World Photography Organisation. Amy was selected as a finalist, and chose to feature the story of Bob, the beloved green sea turtle in long-term rehabilitation at the Two Oceans Aquarium, to suit the theme of "sustainability now."
